Antique, brass surveying transit, C. Berger & Sons, Boston Mass, Made in U. Serial # 29435 dates this instrument 1943-46. In original solid wood storage box (leather carry strap broken), finger joint construction, transit is on a wood panel which pulls out, two latch closures on door, inside label indicates service in 1952, label on outside top of box reads AMK Instrument Company, Louisville KY, weighs 29lbs in box.

The lens does have fine hairline scratches, (see 11th photo). Instrument and box are in good condition, commensurate of age and use. 12 photos are a part of this description.
