Ebony to corners edges and inside. Bands of ebony to front, top and rear. The top lifts up to reveal a writing and storage area's. Black leather with a 18ct gold decorative boarders and corner motifs.
Inner flap lifts up for storage of papers etc. Inside also contains a pair of inkwell pot's with screw off lid's for inks, no damage can be seen. Two lift out lidded compartment for pens, nibs etc. All brass work is functional and well maintained. Superb front escutcheon to front in Boulle brass inlaid with Ebony.
Inside has three small secret drawers. These are hidden behind a sprung loaded panel which can be opened by pulling upwards on the inkwell divider as shown in pictures. Fully original working lock and one replacement key. Green cloth on under side for protection. There is no mistaking its unique quality and design, which is sure to make it a treasured piece by any discerning collector.
Overall the condition is exceptional for its age. Can not not really find any problems. Please note all antique items will show signs of age related usage this is only to be expected. Would make super gift and could be use for the storage of many things not just writing bits and pieces.
