Keuffel & Esser- German Theodolite / Transit #4794 in Original wood Box -1901

  

This is a collectors dream! The serial number on the original wooden box (face plaque)matches the unit. An additional paper label (generally affixed during repairs) also has this number. The box is missing the original leather handle but does have the original key to the lock on the front and the lock works.

Wear appropriate to the age with some water spots and slight veneer separation. The transit is in beautiful, used condition with only minor paint wear remarkable for the age of the unit! All knobs and parts move freely and are clean from the. Telescoping, focusing knob to the eyepiece focus ring. All the level vials are intact as well.

All knobs, clamp screws, levelling screws appear to be in place and most are brass. The case is the original and has pouch for a plumb bob? NOT included, and a wood block, drilled for small parts including little rods to turn some of the tiny screws. A sunshade for the lens sits in a holder on the detachable base. Unit has been cleaned of dust only.

Measures: unit is 11 1/2 inches tall, 6 wide including base and 9 inches across on the base. The box measures: 14 1/2" tall x 6" deep front to back x 10 3/8 side to side. Weight in case is 18.5 pounds.
