MINT Original 6501 Jet Motor Boat Transport Car w/Original Box & Instructions NR. Made in 1962 , this is an all original example of this somewhat scarce Postwar 6501 Jet Motor Boat Transport Car with an original box, an original 6418-9 elastic band, and original perfect instruction sheet. It even includes the hard to find sealed 6501-17 pellets. This car is 100% original and shows no evidence of ever being used. It is in TCA C-10 condition. Brand New, all original, unused and unblemished. Lionel offered the 6501 in two cataloged sets in 1962, 11268 and 13008 and for separate sale.

It was not offered in any cataloged sets in 1963 but continued to be offered for separate sale. It was offered in a number of uncataloged sets from 1962 to 1964. There were ten sets in 1962 (19113, 19115, 19116, 19125, 19132, 19137, 19140, 19165, 19176, 19184). There were eight sets in 1963 (19225, 19227, 19233, 19233-500, 19233-501, 19256, 19317, 19322). And, there were two sets in 1964 (19396, 19399).

The flat is totally flawless and shows no signs of use on the flatcar surface nor on the wheels and even includes its original elastic band which holds the load in place during transport. Somewhat rare as these are becoming very hard to find.

The plastic colors are vibrant and the white heat-stamped lettering is crisp, bold, and complete. The wheels show no evidence of use and have that factory haze indicating they have either very limited or no time on a track. The Jet Motor Boat follows suit and is pristine without even a hint of evidence on the white hull of being stored on the cradle.

The brown deck is super clean and also flawless. The box is a respectable example of the Orange Picture Box. It is complete with nice colors and graphics and all original flaps. All the flaps are original but on one end an inside flap is taped.

There are small tears, and shelf wear. It includes the correct numbering of 6501-15 printed on the tuck flap at both ends and dated 6-62.

It did its job of protecting its MINT condition contents. The instructions are the dark yellow version and all original and flawless. I would grade it a TCA P-10 (Complete, and all original as manufactured and unused). It is correctly numbered 6501-14 and dated 7-62. The rare silver foiled 6501-17 "fuel pellets" pack which is included is in great shape showing no rips, tears or separation on the edges and the enclosed pellets feel firm and complete.
